Killyleagh Councillor Billy  Walker has expressed his concerns at a group recently going from door to door collecting scrap.

He said: “I think this is a sinister development in our area and we all need to be on our guard. Recently, two men and a woman in a small white van, who are beleved to be from the travelling community, have been active in the Killyleagh area but could easily move to another patch.

“One evening at 11pm the woman was found in someone’s home in Killyleagh in the hallway and people in the Castle View area of the town are deeply concerned now. People now need to keep their doors locked at all times and especially the uPVC doors. And also this includes their cars and vehicles. All keys and valuables should be out of sight and out of reach.

“If anyone sees these two men and a woman matching the description with a white van they are asked to take the registration number and contact the police in Downpatrick.”
