Somewhere over the rainbow… the Voices of Lecale are now rehearsing for their their seventh CD.

Their next CD practice is on Saturday 30 July from 11-1pm at the St Patrick Centre and all the singers are asked to come along for 10.45 am for an important briefing before the warm-up.

Local folksinger Laura Plummer, who leads the Voices of Lecale singers group, was delighted at the support they received at the summer barbecue held at Killyeagh yacht Club and thanked everyone for their support in early July.

She said: “This was our second barbecue and it was a brilliant night with good food, good music and great craic. And there wa seven a rainbow thrown in too! As Frankie Valli once said, ‘Oh what a night ..!’

“As well as the group singing sea songs, and an eclectic mix which Leonard Cohen’s ‘Halleujah’ and Abba’s ‘Take a chance on me’,  many choir members and friends did individual star turns with a great rendition of ‘Here comes the sun’ from Seamus Camplisson and a selection of greatest hits from Michael Murphy. A ‘Name that tune’ quiz organised by Andrea and Doreen left some of us scratching our heads and got the post-barbie part of the evening off to a great start. It was great to  have some of the Thursday Singers with us, too!

“A big thank-you to David Y for organising the event, David M for sound, Andrea & Doreen for the quiz and to everyone who supplied food, quiz prizes & clearing up.”
