Trust To Launch New Regional Nursing Uniforms

A Regional Uniform and Work Wear Steering Group was set up to look at standardising uniform across all health & social care staff in Northern Ireland, due to the current differences in many hospitals in the design, colour and provision of uniform and work wear.  The principle objectives of this group was to ensure that all HSC staff would be easily recognisable by patients and clients, assist in the reduction of hospital acquired infections, and to provide value for money. Following the Steering Group’s initial market investigations, a local uniform manufacturer was engaged to carry out a consultation exercise with in excess of 1,000 health & social care staff and to enable a final design of a new regional uniform. The new regional uniforms will have the designation of each staff member clearly embroidered on the top right shoulder; staff will then wear their name badge stating their name, designation and area of work.
