RGU Notes For February Sunday 4 February 2018

Indoor juvenile football is back at the Ballymote Centre on Saturdays and will continue until the end of March before moving out door writes Collie Quinn.

Nursery, p1&2 starts 9.30-10.15am, p3&4 from 10.15-1100am and p5-6 11.00-1145am.  £1 will be collected at the door. Everyone is welcome.

U-12 girls start at Downpatrick Sports Centre, Brannish Road, on Saturday 3 February, 10 -11am… £1 weekly.

Congratulations to Cara McKervey and Eilis Murphy who won their Ulster U-16 doubles title at the weekend.

One wall handball continues on Thursday at Red High. 6.30pm for Juveniles and 7.30pm for adults.

Down Ladies hosted their first Home NFL game at PTR on Sunday when they took on Roscommon and came out with a well merited win. Well done to the girls especially the RGU panel members, Orla, Leah, Adair, Morgan, Roisin and Kiera. This week’s game is away to Longford with a 2 pm throw in.

Down Men meanwhile had a disappointing day at the office when they went down to Cork. Great performance by Anthony Doherty who scored three long range frees. Next up is a tough away fixture to Roscommon.

Massive congratulations to Cara McKervey and Eilis Murphy who won their Ulster U-16 doubles title at the weekend and now progress to the All Ireland semi Finals.

Congratulations also  to Rachel McKeown who won the U-17 singles but tough luck to Cara Doran and Michelle Madine who came up just short in their battle with their Armagh opponents.

There will be a meeting for all U-16’s and their parents on Sunday 18 Feb in the Club to discuss the year ahead. This for any boys born after 2002/2003 .

The Senior Men and Ladies have organised a nights entertainment in the club on Saturday 24 Feb with music by Damien Quinn. There is a big demand for tickets which are Going for £5 each. See any Senior player for a ticket.

Monthly draw: Winners were £250 Paddy Rice,  £150 Adam Prenter and £100 Morgan Fitzpatrick.

Lotto: Number drawn were 3.13,23,25. No Jackpot winner but 4 people Share £100  for getting 3 numbers. New jackpot is £2000.
