Police Appeals in Castlewellan and Ballynahinch

DETECTIVES continue to appeal for information following an assault on two men in the Main Street area of Castlewellan in the early hours of Sunday 7 October.

Police received the report of the assault at approximately 3.50am. It was reported that a group of males assaulted the two men. One of the men, aged 26, received serious facial injuries that required hospital treatment. The other man, aged 22, also required hospital treatment for facial injuries.

Two males aged 24 and 26 who were arrested on suspicion of assault have subsequently been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Also, police  in Downpatrick are appealing for information following a burglary at a local nursing home in the Grove Road area of Ballynahinch during the early hours of yesterday morning (Mon 8 Oct).

Shortly after 5:30am burglars forced their way into the premises through a side window and stole a small safe and cash box full of money. It is believed the robbers were disturbed and the items were recovered in the grounds of the property along with a quad bike and two bicycles.

Anyone with information about the Castlewellan assaults or the burglary in Ballynahinch or who noticed any activity in those areas is asked to contact detectives at Downpatrick on 0845 600 8000.
