Murlands Solicitors Are All Heart For NICHS

Murlands Solicitors with offices in Downpatrick, Carryduff and Ballynahinch have continued their committed support of NI Chest Heart & Stroke, waiving their fee for the preparation of Wills, subject to a donation to being made for a second year to NICHS.

The most recent phase of the campaign generated raised £3,946.50, with all donations going to help people affected by heart disease. That’s an incredible £7,265.50 generated to date.

The decision to support NICHS came about due to the tragic loss of senior partner and highly respected member of the legal profession Mr Barry Finlay. Sadly Barry’s life was cut short due to a heart attack following his return from holiday in 2015. Murlands big hearted team were keen to again undertake the scheme in Barry’s memory to help save lives right here in Northern Ireland.

NICHS funds life changing activity support groups and care for the whole family as well as life saving pioneering heart research such as the Baby Hearts Study being undertaken at the University of Ulster.

* In 2014/15, over 4,132 people in Northern Ireland were admitted to hospital with a heart attack (6), which is 11 people per day.

* The number of people currently living in NI (2015/16) with heart failure is 15,702 (1% of the population).

* In 2015, 18% of all deaths (2,813) were caused by diseases of the circulatory system. 1,825 were attributed to coronary heart disease and 988 to stroke.
