MCRRCI Gets Ready For IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy Races

The IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy Races on 17 th September at Bishopscourt Racing Circuit has attracted more partners for this year’s event.

Marc Sanlon, MCRRCI spokesperson said: “We welcome Rea Timber Craft of Crumlin to this year’s event who will sponsor the 650 Supertwins class. MCRRCI are pleased to have the Rea Timber Craft on-board this year. The family business which has a deep background in motorcycle racing were more than happy to get involved with the third running of The IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy Races.

“Pitlane Bike Services based in Larne provide motorcycle services, engine rebuilds, general repairs etc has joined the ranks as an event partner and will jointly sponsor the Moto 3 class. PBS also sponsor young rider Luke Clements. The Belfast Newsletter which gives great motorcycle coverage throughout the year is the event Media partner and will keep you up to date on race details on the run up to the event.

“We greatly appreciated our partnerships with the different companies which enables us to announce the total prize fund for this year’s event, a massive £12000 which is probably the biggest prize fund for a National short circuit since the David Wood Regal Racing days. It is very encouraging that an event only in its third year of running has established itself as one of the most prestigious if not the most prestigious on the Short Circuit calendar. With the Supersport class being the main race class at the event which makes it different to all other short circuit events where Superbikes are the main attraction.

“All our local Irish Championship competitors will no doubt put on the best racing as usual and double IFS David Wood Memorial Trophy winner Nikki Coates will be back to defend his title. Spectators will be treated to a 16 race program with practice at 9am and the first race approximately 11am all for £10 admission. The IFS Pirelli Tyres Supersport class has a healthy £3500 prize fund which the overall winner will pick up the David Wood Memorial Trophy + £1500+ a set of Pirelli Tyres, 2 nd place collecting £700 and a rear tyre, 3 rd £500 plus a front tyre, 4 th – 10 th have cash prizes also.

“In addition to the above there is The Arai Helmet Man of the Meeting award which the winner will receive a New Arai Chaser V helmet + £300. Various other fastest lap awards will be made and a special MCRRCI David Wood Endeavour Award to a club member who in the Clubs opinion has improved greatly this season.
