Hansel + Grettel

Description: The well-known and much-loved traditional fairy tale, Hansel + Grettel, returns to the Lyric. Paul Boyd’s musical about two clever children is perfect for ages 6 and above.

Forget Turkey! (We’re going to Phuket this Christmas)

Description: The Lyric’s brand new Christmas Comedy for grown-ups aged 16+ is the perfect antidote and round-up of this year’s events. Set in an A&E with an elderly man on a trolley, Forget Turkey! takes an erratic and hysterical look back on a tumultuous 2012.

Voice + dialect coaching

Date/Time: 6 Jan 10am – 4pm

Description: Patricia Logue, who teaches Voice & Acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, will lead this session for practising and aspiring professional actors. This workshop will concentrate on Received Pronunciation (RP).

Stage Combat Workshop

Date/Time: 13 January 2013 10am – 4pm

Description: Ian McCracken from the Academy of Performance Combat (www.theapc.org.uk) will be leading the first APC workshop to be held in Northern Ireland. This workshop for actors and young people interested in acting will focus on unarmed combat and will introduce ideas on the use of weapons on stage.

Description: Kickstarting the Lyric’s Belfast Season of plays to celebrate the city’s 400th anniversary is this poetic tragedy by St. John Ervine which dissects class and sectarianism in Ireland before partition.

The Seafarer – Conor McPherson

Description: This darkly funny play tells the tale of a recovering alcoholic who returns to his Dublin family. Written by the much-acclaimed Conor McPherson, best-known for his play The Weir.

The Time is Now, Again – Chris Addison

Description: The star of The Thick of It, & Mock The Week brings his twice extended, critically acclaimed tour to the Lyric Theatre for one night only.
