Join the Power Of An Hour Fun Run in Dundrum for Marie Curie Cancer Care

On Thursday 8 August 2013, Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Maria McCarthy met with members of the Marie Curie Cancer Care Donard Fundraising Group to raise awareness of their inaugural ‘Power Of An Hour’ fundraising event.

Power of An Hour (Walk, Run or Cycle 3, 5 or 10km – for all ages) will take place in Dundrum on Saturday 17 August 2013 at 11am and is being organised in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Councillor Maria McCarthy said: “Down District Council fully support ‘Power Of An Hour’. The main aim of this special event is to try to and raise enough money to fund another 600 hours of Marie Curie Palliative Nursing Care, for local people, who are suffering from cancer or a terminal illness.”

“Whether you participate as an individual, a family, or a work group, you are guaranteed a great day out. People can show their support by sponsoring a runner or walker and the money raised will help make a real difference to the lives of the people supported by Marie Curie Cancer Care. I am very much looking forward to taking part and I am sure you will agree that it is for an extremely worthwhile cause.”

Event organiser Jacqui Mason said: “We hope to have hundreds of people at the event on the 17 August. At the moment the weather is just perfect for charity walks. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there. You can check out our Facebook page for further information about the event and how to enter at:
