Along with the Downpatrick RGU, we would like to thank everyone who purchased a ticket for our recent SKYBALL fundraiser. Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon we were able to successfully run with this event at the RGU pitch.

The lucky winners were 1st Prize – £1000.00 Taryn Trainor, 2nd Prize – £200.00 Danny Carville, 3rd Prize – £100.00 Conor Curran, 4th Prize – £100.00 Paul McShane and 5th Prize – £100.00 Pat Moore. We would also like to extend our thanks to Bartley Murphy who supplied the helicopter to drop the balls, and without his help we wouldn’t have been able to hold this fundraiser

The ladies have two matches this week, on Monday night the travel to play Ballynahinch Ladies at the Assumption Grammar School, this match kicks off at 8.15pm. Then on Wednesday night they welcome Bangor Ladies to Dunleath for a 7.30pm kick off.

May’s 100 Club Draw will be held this Saturday 29th May in Murphy’s Bar, can those that have still to pay for this month please do so before 12.00pm on Saturday.

The 9-a-side development team attended the Annalong Tournament on Saturday and bowed out at the semi-final stage. In their group games they performed exceptionally well, continuing to play football at every opportunity, their first game was against Midway and the boys took all three points winning by 2 goals to one, TJ Hill grabbing both goals.

The second game saw the team having to come from two goals down against Ballyvea to eventually draw two all, Niall Morrison and Josh Montgomery scored. In their final group game despite dominating for long periods the team were beaten one nil, a lot of discussions at the side-line led to a penalty shootout between Downpatrick and Ballyvea who both finished on four points. Cahal Hynds team prevailed in the shoot out to progress to the semi-final of the cup competition against Rathfriland.

Unfortunately the Downpatrick lads fell to a 1-0 defeat but the experience gained at this competition will help this team as they make the transition to competitive football next season. The club would like to thank coaches Cahal Hynds and Marty McGarry for their hard work both on Saturday and throughout the year. We would also like to thank the parents who travelled up to support the boys on Saturday.

The Youth presentation will be held on Friday 2nd June in the upstairs of Murphy’s Bar at 7.30pm. All our youth members and their families are welcome to attend.
