Daisy Lodge Dinner Nights Raise Over £11k For Cancer Fund For Children

Daisy Lodge, the therapeutic Short Break Facility in Newcastle for children suffering from cancer and providing support for their families, hosted two themed dinner evenings to raise funds for the Cancer Fund for Children.

Thursday 12 November was an Italian Themed Dinner and Friday 13 November was a winter wonderland themed evening. Both nights where an amazing success and raised over £11,000 for the charity.

Joan Burden, Hospitality Manager for the Short Breaks Facility, said: “The nights were an amazing success, and I want to say a massive thank you to the businesses mentioned below and volunteers who helped in the organising of the evening and for their continued support to the charity and also those people who attended the two nights and showed their support. Money raised will enable us to continue providing vital services for families affected by cancer.

“The businesses who supported us on the two nights were Anne and Raymond from Add a Little Sparkle, John Hale from Hales Fruit and Veg, Nicki from Bubble Up, Christine and Dennis Lynn from Finnebrogue, Beckim Gjylani from Villa Vinci, Simon Dougan from Yellow Door, Joery Castrel from the Boathouse Restaurant in Bangor, Finbarr Keaveney, Adam McKee, Assumption Grammar School, Stephen Meldrum from the Slieve Donard Hotel and Spa, Nicholson Wines, Tesco’s Newcastle and Paddy Campbell.”

Over the two nights Joan presented a certificate of appreciation for supporting families living with cancer to the local businesses who provide continued services and support. Thursday evenings presentations where to Anne and Raymond Douglas from Add a Little Sparkle, Dennis Orr from the Burrendale Hotel and Spa, John Hale from Hales Fruit and Veg, Jilly Dougan who has produced Daisy Lodge’s own herb garden, Eimear Tumelty Service Manager from Tesco’s Newcastle as well as Evelyn and Kieran Morgan long term volunteers. Also included in the photo above is Gillian Creevy Chief Executive for the Cancer Fund for Children, and Joan Burden, Hospitality Manager for the Shimna Valley Complex.

Also on Friday evening, a special thanks was also given to Lady Anthea Forde from the Butterfly House and Gardens, Seaforde, Patricia Pell from Maud’s Ice Cream, Bernadine and Kevin from McPolin’s Eggs, Michael Hazzard from Coco’s Adventure Playground, Christine and Dennis Lynn from Finnebrogue and Paddy and Una Campbell, long-term volunteers.
