Chairperson Opens Books of Condolence for Martin McGuinness

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick opened Books of Condolence in Newry and Downpatrick on the passing of Martin McGuinness, former Deputy First Minister for Northern Ireland.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick, has opened Books of Condolence in Newry and Downpatrick on the passing of Martin McGuinness, former Deputy First Minister for Northern Ireland.

Cllr Fitzpatrick said: “I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the McGuinness family on their great loss. My thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn a much loved husband, father and grandfather. I also wish to acknowledge Martin’s committment to political processes both locally and globally and particularly to his role as Deputy First Minister for Northern Ireland, where he made a very significant and positive contribution”.
The Books of Condolence are available for signing Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, at the following Council buildings:

Downshire Civic Centre, Ardglass Road, Downpatrick.
Down Arts Centre, Irish Street, Downpatrick.
O’Hagan House, Monaghan Row, Newry.
Newry Town Hall, Bank Parade, Newry.

The Books will close for signatures on Friday 7 April 2017.
