Applicants and nominees shortlisted will be invited to attend an Awards Ceremony to be held in March 2014.

Previous winners of this prestigious award have included 2013 Winner: Jude Cassidy, Judith Cassidy Textiles Saintfield, specialists in hand woven textiles for commercial and domestic interiors,  and 2012 Winner Stephen Mayne,  Mayne Communications, Ballynahinch, responsible for design and installation of bespoke audio-visual systems, including the Belfast Titanic Building conference area, who continue to make their mark on the business and economic life of the district.

Councillor Dermot Curran commented: “Young entrepreneurs are essential to our future.  We know that business has been tough for many over the last few years.  While the economic outlook now seems more positive in some areas, the number of employment opportunities for young people in the district are far from what we wish to see.

“It’s all the more important therefore that we seek out and identify the wealth of talent that we have here in the district, and celebrate those young entrepreneurs who are bringing new life to the local economy and are the job creators of tomorrow.”

“If you have a thriving new business, or if you have seen success develop from an innovative approach, or indeed know of a new business venture which has made a difference to you or your community, contact Ciara Toman on 028 4461 0856 or email  ciara.toman@downdc.gov.uk  for an application form and full competition criteria.”
