Alliance Councillor Clarke Welcomes Bannonstown Rd Tree Cutbacks
ALLIANCE Newcastle Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed Forest Service agreeing to carrying out tree maintenance work and cutting back of branches along the Bannonstown Road outside Castlewellan.
Councillor Clarke had contacted the Forest Service regarding large overgrown tree branches from Castlewellan Forest Park which were protruding over the boundary wall along the Bannonstown Road and affecting tractors and other high vehicles when driving.
He said: “Recently I had received complaints from constituents regarding large tree branches which were overgrown along the boundary wall”
“Following discussions with Forest Service I have been advised that Forest Service staff will be deployed over a number of days to carry out essential tree maintenance works and removal of any large and protruding branches.
“Forest Service also advise me that their staff will also be carrying out the same essential tree maintenance works and removal of any large and protruding branches along the Drumbuck Road and have also agreed to meet with me onsite along the Bannonstown Road to discuss the other remaining trees which need removed due to safety concerns raised from local constituents living on the Bannonstown Road.”
