FIONA  Molloy, Chairperson of the World Mental Health Day Events Committee, said, “For the past 10 years the World Mental Health Day Events committee has been planning and delivering community events to celebrate World Mental Health Day in the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust area. In recent years this has become much more than one day, and we are now very proud to have events throughout the year.

“Our committee is currently made up of staff and service users from South Eastern HSC Trust, Action Mental Health, Ards Borough Council, North Down Boroug  Council, CAUSE and the Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health.

“We are writing to extend an invite to you, your colleagues and services users to become involved in the committee. We actively involve service users on our  committee and our events would not have been the successes they have been without their direct input.

“The theme for this year’s World Mental Health Day is ‘Developing your mental health – the greatest investment you can make’. We already have a number of  events in the pipeline for 2011 including:

*  DVD launch of the play ‘A bit closer to home’ by Pat McGreevy at the Great Hall, Downpatrick

*  Flowerbed planting outside the post office in Bangor Town Centre

*  Information sessions with local councillors in the Town Halls

*  Information sessions in Bloomfield Shopping Centre & Ards Shopping Centre
