We say NO To The Scottish Referendum Says Shannon

Jim Shannon MP for Strangford has urged Scots to vote NO in the upcoming referendum.

With just three days to go, the latest polls are showing that 54% of people intend to vote ‘no’ with just 46% voting yes (with undecided voters not included).

Mr Shannon said: “This is certainly a more assuring poll than was released a couple of weeks ago, and I am very confident that the Scottish people will vote no because they recognise the importance of maintaining the Union, for economic, defence and financial reasons but I think they will vote no because of the even greater issues.

“Also, for example, more than 100 Scottish soldiers were killed fighting IRA terrorists who wanted to take Northern Ireland out of the UK – how then, can Scots justify a YES vote, knowing that so many laid down their lives to prevent that very thing from happening? I also think Scotland recognise that we really are better together, stronger together and greater together – whether the legacy of the Great British Empire, which Scotland was very much a part of, is in the past or not, it was built together and for us, the British people, it remains together today.”
