Philip said: “I am well known within the  farming community and have lived within the district all my life. I care passionately about the area’s development.

“As a member of the National Farmers Union, I wish to see the new Newry, Mourne and Down Council deliver for rural communities.

“We have experienced crippling rates rises which has added real hardship into local businesses, and rural areas generally get a poor return for their rates. The TUV will guard your money from squander by the council.”

TUV Party Leader Jim Allister QC MLA’s stand for “principled Politics” encouraged Philip to get involved with TUV. Philip said:  “Jim has been an inspiration. He has helped me to give something back to the community,  As a committed Unionist I am standing for TUV because I want to play a part in resisting the Sinn Fein agenda, something which will be vital in the new Council.”

“I believe that the TUV has proved itself as a party to deliver for Unionism and indeed to all committed to democracy, and similarly he hopes to deliver strong accountability for all the people in Rowallane. Many are disillusioned by the broken promises and power lust of the big parties. Principle and integrity in politics still matter and that is why I am standing for TUV and asking people for their first preference vote.

“If elected,” Philip pledged, “I will fight hard to save the Downe Hospital and to be a champion of the rural community. We therefore ask you to make the TUV YOUR Insurance Policy, in Europe and at Local Government Level.”
