SERC Staff Support Northern Ireland Hospice

SOUTH Eastern Regional College (SERC) staff members Jim Magee and John McConnell are pictured presenting a cheque for £393.15 to Naoimh Quinn, Regional Fundraiser for the Northern Ireland Hospice. The money was raised through SERC’s annual staff Golf Day which was held at Temple Golf Club. Also pictured is Gordon Richardson from Graham Facility Management, who sponsored the Golf Day for the third year running.
Event organiser Jim Magee said, “I am delighted to be able to make this donation to the Northern Ireland Hospice. Once again SERC staff have shown great generosity and support to a worthwhile cause. I would like to thank Graham FM for their continued support of the Golf Day, this is their third year sponsoring the event and without their commitment we would not have been able to make such a large donation to the Hospice.”

Charity Cheques At Ardglass Golf Club

THE recent Captain’s, Lady Captain’s and President’s Days at Ardglass Golf Club raised almost £5000 for several local charities.
At the presentation of cheques in Ardglass on Thursday (29th September) are club captain Cormac MacMullan who presented £1,200 to Rosie Hassin from the Ulster Cancer Foundation’s Think Pink campaign and the same amount to Mid Down MS Support Group representatives Niall Magee, Josie Byrne (secretary) and Mary Killen.

Sun Shines On Cormac MacMullan’s Captain’s Day

ARDGLASS Golf Course was once again honed to perfection on Cormac MacMullan’s captain’s day. In absolutely brilliant weather with the sun shining and the slightest of winds, 268 club members tee-ed up to battle for the honours.
The overall winner was Darragh Cross player Martin Healy with 44 points, three ahead of the pack led by Barry and Shane McEvoy followed by Damien Murdock and Ross Graham all on 41 points, being graded on their back nine performances.

Ardglass Win Through Into Senior Cup Semi-Finals

ON a sun-kissed Ardglass Golf Course with a slight puff of wind, four teams played off in the quarter finals of the Senior Cup – Ardglass, Knock, Clandeboye and Belvior. Ardglass were paired off with Knock and it was Daniel Vaughn who tee-ed up for Ardglass first.

International Golfers Tee Up In Ardglass

IT was another very enjoyable weekend at Ardglass Golf Club at the annual International Tournament took place.
30 international visitors faced up to 30 members of the seaside club and the cup was again retained by Ardglass after an interesting duel.
Jack Murphy, Ardglass club organizer, said, “On Saturday, the front nine was played by greensomes with Ardglass winning 9-6 and then the back nine by four ball better ball with Ardglass coming in with 9 ½ to 5 ½, but the real action was much closer which this score does not reflect.
“On Sunday, the played their singes and the score settled at 17-13 fro Ardgass with the home team winning 35 ½ to 24 1/2 . This was a very credible performance by the international team who thoroughly enjoyed their round in Ardglass.
