He said: “The rooms consisted of two museums, and it provided a great opportunity to view the history of the Orange Order over the last 324 years. What was good about this display was that many MP’s and their staff have had their first introduction to the Orange and the work that they do with the youth, the elderly and with the whole community.

“The Orange Order has lodges in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Canada and the USA as well as across the whole of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Orange have provided 3G across all of its Orange Hall’s across Northern Ireland with grant aid and they are active in their local communities, they have attracted interest from all of NI.

“Along with other MPs, we contacted the RoI Government to seek protection for Orange Halls and their members as earlier this year, two orange halls were burnt badly and will need structural rebuilding. The fantastic exhibition at Westminster took over two and a half years to arrange and I am very happy to have been part of this at Westminster, as a member of the Kircubbin True Blues LOL 1900 for 33 years.

“It is always a pleasure to let others know of our glorious heritage and wonderful history and the fight to secure civil and religious freedom,” added Jim Shannon.
