SERC Students Raise Vital Funds For Tiny Life

Business administration students from South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC) Downpatrick campus have helped to raise vital funds for the charity Tiny Life.

Tiny Life was established twenty-seven years ago and are committed to providing a wide range of support services. These services aim to meet the growing needs of families with premature and ill babies in Northern Ireland.

A total of £621 was raised through a number of events. These events included creating festive Christmas logs, Valentine’s treats and a Mother’s day hamper raffle. All the products were handmade by students and sold at the recent student trade fairs.

By participating in these projects the students gained valuable skills which will benefit them in their future business or entrepreneurial endeavours. The students would like to thank everyone who supported the projects by purchasing products or making donations.

Leslie Ann Macaulay, a representative from Tiny Life collected the cheque and said: ‘These funds are really beneficial to our cause. The students have made a difference with their fundraising and we are really appreciative of it in how it all helps the families and the infants. The funds raised by the Downpatrick students will go towards developing a sensory room for young babies.”

SERC Technical Support Officer Norma Reid said: “It was fantastic to see how enthusiastic the students were in working together with the aim of raising money for Tiny Life. The initial aim was for the students to raise £200. Through their hard work and creative ideas, the students exceeded this expectation. Due to this great success the students were motivated to continue producing high quality products to raise as much as they could for the charity. The Valentine treats and Mother’s day hamper were original and unique ideas which made the total of £621. I am very proud of all their efforts”.
