Rogers Congratulates Credit Union On Coming Move To Newcastle Main Street

South Down Assembly member Sean Rogers has congratulated the Dromara and Drumgooland Credit Union on its announcement to relocate to the former Danske Bank building on Main Street, Newcastle, with the introduction of four new jobs.

“This is very welcome news, particularly as it is delivered at a time when we witness another High Street bank leaving our Main Street. “

The SDLP representative added: “The management and trustees at Dromara and Drumgooland Credit Union must be congratulated for taking this initiative which brings prosperity and jobs to our Main Street in Newcastle.”

Using the opportunity to encourage people to avoid unmanageable sources of debt the MLA said; “At this time of year I am always very conscious that many people feel a stretch in their finances and may be tempted to turn to ‘pay day loans’ or unregulated ‘loan sharks’ to cover Christmas expenses.

“I would encourage anyone in that position to firstly visit their local Credit Union to establish if a more sustainable borrowing arrangement can be agreed”.
