RGU Club Notes For 1 March 2015

Congratulations to Eilis Murphy and Cara McKervey who won their U-13 Handball Ulster Doubles title for the second year in a row this afternoon in Kingscourt writes John Murphy. A tremendous achievement for the two girls and their coach Tony O’Connor. Well done from everyone at the club.

Many thanks to all who helped out and supported MS fundraising day down at the club on Saturday. From the cooks and servers at the Big Breakfast to the tireless car washers out the front it was a great effort, all for a very deserving cause. Winners in the prize draw were: 1st £350 Pat Magee, 2nd £200 Luke McLaughlin, 3rd £150 Tom Trainor, 4th £100 Owen McEvoy, 5th £100 Tom Trainor, 6th £50 Paul McAlinden, 7th £50 Connor Dowd.Thank you for your continued support.

A good run out also for our Senior Ladies on Saturday in their first friendly of the season against Aughlisnafin played in some very difficult conditions. A great boost to the club and especially our juvenile ladies teams now that the Senior Ladies have reformed. Well done everyone tonight.

Well done to U-14 Ladies who had a good match against Burren Ladies in a friendly on Saturday afternoon at RGU. In very trying and difficult weather conditions the girls played really well and at the long whistle came out on top. Good start to the season girls.

A good result for An Dun at the weekend in Breffni with 3x RGU lads on the pitch. Well done to Gerdie Collins for making his league debut alongside regulars Damien and Peter Turley.

Thanks to everyone who has been involved in the “stay safe and spin” program and the walking club on Friday night. The spin classes have now finished a big thanks to Gavin Smyth for running the program. The walking club will continue and will meet at the RGU clubhouse on Friday at 8pm.

U-6’s back at Ballymote on Saturday at 10.30am. The U-10 Boys, P5 & 6, are also back at 11.30am down at the club pitches. Remember your water bottles and boots.

Girl’s football training for P3-P7s indoors at RGU clubhouse on Saturday morning from 10-11am. All girls who are interested in playing football and joining in the fun and activities all year long are welcome. Don’t worry if you’ve never played before, come down and give it a go! No boots needed yet, just trainers and a bottle of water. Contact Edel on 07759418419 for more info. Training for U-12 Boys on Saturday at 12.30pm down at club pitch. All boys born in 2003 and 2004 are eligible. So if you are interested in playing this season you are more than welcome down. Just bring your boots and a water bottle and suitable gear for the weather.

U-12 Girls training at 11-12 on Sundays with Donna and Judith, all born 2003 and 2004 are welcome. U14 Ladies training every Tuesday at RGU 6.45 – 8pm and Sat morning at 11.30am. For further information contact Brenda Murphy 07711223477.

U-16 training started on Tuesday 17 February at 7pm at the pitches, and training times are Tuesday and Sunday evenings at 7pm. All boys interested in playing this season are welcome along.
