Everyone at RGU Downpatrick is deeply saddened by the death of Eddie McGrady ( RIP).

Eddie was a past member of RGU and brother of past Senior Officers, Malachy, Declan (RIP) and Desmond (RIP) Latterly Eddie was president of our neighbours St Patrick’s Saul but was a great supporter of the GAA in Down and in Downpatrick in particular, always at hand to support the RGU in its development plans over the years. To his children Paula, Conaill and Jerome, brother Malachy and sister Marie we extend our deepest sympathy.

The sudden death has also taken place in South Africa of past player Pius Magee, son of past Chairman Denis ( Dinny) RIP. Pius represented RGU at both football and hurling before emigrating. To his wife Stephanie and children Shannon and Peter , his mother Annie and brothers , Damien, Noel, Gerard and Barry we extend our deepest sympathy.

Cultural Officer – Maria Collins. Player’s Rep. (M) – Peter Turley. Player’s Rep. (F) – Jenny Fitzsimons. Additional members – Nishy Wynn, Brendan Smyth, Willie Walsh, Donna Fitzpatrick, Paddy Rice, Ruairi Scullion, Paul McAlinden. Congratulations to them all and we wish them well in their endeavours in the forthcoming year.

Clara will now compete in the All-County Final at the Red High on Sunday at 5pm. All support welcome and everyone in the club wishes Clara well.

There will be Child Protection Course held in the club on Wed evening 11 Dec. This course is compulsory for anyone wanting to work with our juvenile teams or to do any coaching courses. There is also a Foundation Level Football course at the Red High on Sat 30 Dec, 9-4pm. These courses are open to anyone over the age of 16. The U-6’s will be back on Sat 23 Nov at  Ballymote Sports Centre, 10.30am – 11.30am. We hope to see you all. Thanks to the Police and Community Safety Partnership for funding the Halloween Diversity Sporting 8 week programme in conjunction with the club.

Training for Juvenile Girls has commenced again at Ballymote on Saturday at 11.30-12.30pm. All U-14 and U-12 girls welcome, especially newcomers. Come down and give it a go!

RGU school’s coaching programme has now commenced in St Colmcille’s, St Brigid’s and OLSP under the guidance of Gerdie Collins, James Deeny, John Polly and Conor McGrady.

Framed print of all our 2013 teams is now hanging on the noticeboard beside the changing rooms. We plan to get a print framed for each year in the future and this will serve as an archive for all who represent the Hoops on the field of play.

RGU mass for deceased players, members and friends of the R GU will be celebrated on Wed 20th November at 7.30pm in St Patrick’s.

Lotto numbers are 9, 14, 26, 27. One person won £100. Jackpot rises to £2600.
