Police Arrest Man After Newcastle £24,000 Cannabis Bust

POLICE in Newcastle have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of £24,000 following a search of a property in the town on Wednesday 2 October.

A 41-year old man arrested at the time was subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries. Commenting on the seizure Area Commander for Down, Chief Inspector Deirdre Bones said: “Officers in Down continue to tackle the issue of drug supply and distribution. Through seizures of this nature, we are reducing the harm that is caused by drugs in our community.

“Drugs are clearly an issue of concern to local community in Down and my officers are working closely with residents to tackle the issue of drug supply and distribution. “This seizure, will undoubtedly assist in disrupting supply, however, we would appeal to anyone who may have information in relation to illegal drugs, cannabis factories or anyone that is selling drugs in the area, to contact us on 0845 600 8000.
