Police are investigating following a number of incidents across Dundrum, Castlewellan and Dromara.

dn_screenShortly before midnight on Sunday it was reported a Renault van had been stolen from outside a property at Main Street in Dundrum.

This van was discovered at 8am the next morning at an address at Crossgar Road, Dromara, from which another van, an Iveco Tipper, had been stolen overnight.

The Iveco van was subsequently recovered by police in the Ashbridge Manor area of Dromara. It is believed the vehicle had earlier been involved in a collision with a parked car in Kane Terrace.

Police are investigating a link between these reports and two other vehicle thefts overnight between Sunday night, 21 September, and Monday morning, 22 September. A red Transit van was stolen from an address at Clarkill Road in Castlewellan while a black Seat Leon was stolen from Moybrick Road in Dromara. The Leon was found at the Clarkill Road address and the red Transit was abandoned in Newcastle, close to Tesco.

Officers are also looking into reports of a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries, including one at a mechanic’s garage, in the Banbridge Road area of Dromara and as well as at a house on Ardtanagh Road, Dromara during the same overnight period.

The investigation into all of these reports is at an early stage and officers are appealing for information. The number to call is 101.
