Patrician Youth Centre Members Receive Duke Of Edinburgh Awards

Members of the Patrician Youth Centre in Downpatrick who completed their Duke of Edinburgh awards enjoyed an evening reception at their club and after the light supper, were presented with their medals by Kate Thompson, the Northern Ireland Director of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Mrs Thompson said:  “The Patrician Youth Centre has an excellent history of presenting young people for the award”, and added: “I would like to congratulate you all on your great efforts. It is heartening to see so many of you at different levels engaging in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. I am sure that when I came back in future to present further awards that  I will be seeing the same faces progressing through their awards to higher levels. I wish you all well on your future endeavours.”

Yvonne Maguire, Senior Youth Worker at the Patrician You Centre, said: “It has been a great journey for you all and I know you all have really enjoyed the experience. The staff are really delighted to see so many of you taking part and achieving bronze, silver and gold. These skills and confidence acquired from the Duke of Edinburg awards  will stay with you for the rest of your life.”
