Twilight Market a Huge Success for Newry’s Night Time Economy

Newry Mourne and Down District Council hosted a second Halloween-themed market event in the historic Newry Variety Market on Friday 27 October 2017.

Cllr Roisin Mulgrew, Chairperson of Newry Mourne and Down District Council, with Giles Brétéché of Mange Tout delicatessen and restaurant in Downpatrick.

Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew, said; “The event was central to the Council’s Newry Halloween celebrations and saw over 60 stalls on display with over 7,500 people attending the event.

“The event showcased best local food and drink, as well as local craft businesses, a live music stage, children’s activities, a ghost walk, fairground rides and walk about entertainment… all of which culminated in a spectacular fireworks display.

“The atmosphere was wonderful. The market was abuzz with the sights and smells of autumn and it was fantastic to see people out in their thousands. The Council is delighted to stage these events and support other local Halloween activities and fireworks elsewhere for all families living our district to enjoy.”

Following on from the success of the Halloween Twilight Market, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council will be hosting a Christmas Twilight Market in Newry Variety Market on Friday 8 December from 5pm to 10pm.
