SINN Féin’s Council candidate Brian Morgan accompanied his party colleagues’ Caitríona Ruane and Cllr Willie Clarke to the official opening and blessing of the new GAC pitch in Kilcoo on Friday evening.
Speaking after the event Mr Morgan said: “The opening of this new playing field is a landmark occasion for the club and I wish to commend everyone who worked so hard to secure the funding for this facility.
“The official opening of the pitch was marked by a game between the Kilcoo Senior Football team who went head to head with a best of Ulster that included the calibre of players such as Stephen McDonnell, Paddy Bradley, Sean Cavanagh, Paul Finley and Tommy Freeman.
“Kilcoo GAC is at the heart of the local community and the magnificent work they do in encouraging people of all ages to participate in sport and Irish cultural activities is nothing short of amazing. The opening of this new floodlit pitch will make a massive difference and will ensure teams can train throughout the year.”
