Willis marshal, a spokesperson for his team, said: “We are pleased that Michael was moved out of the Intensive Care Unit on Saturday evening, and will go into theatre on Monday 26 May 2014 for another operation on his back.

“It is hoped, that if the operation on Monday goes according to plan, that Michael may be able to return to Northern Ireland as early as Friday 30th May 2014, where it is expected that he will be admitted to Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital for further treatment and recuperation.

“The members of the NEI Motorsports Team who support Michael have been overwhelmed by the continued support that has been shown to Michael his wife and family members.”

Willis Marshall, along with help from Kym-Louise Mulholland have opened a recovery fund for Michael Pearson, which it is hoped will be able to provide funds for him on his road to recovery.
