AS royal wedding fever grips the nation, the South Down Unionist Association is also planning a celebration with a “Right Royal Tea Party” on Friday 29th April.
The party kicks off at the UUP constituency office 19 Causeway Road, Newcastle, from 1pm and is being hosted by South Down Assembly candidate John McCallister.
Mr McCallister said, “I am hoping for a good turn-out at the tea party. This much-anticipated wedding is being celebrated in towns and villages throughout the area, and I am delighted to be joining in.
“This will be a family event with afternoon cream tea, a bouncy castle for the kids and lots of royal bunting.
“With so many people being off work and school, I’m sure Newcastle will be buzzing with tourists, so this is an open invitation for everyone to come along for an afternoon’s fun.
“It will be a great opportunity for people to come together and raise a toast to Prince William and Kate Middleton.
“With all the doom and gloom of an economic depression, this wedding will hopefully help lift the nation’s spirits,” he added.
