A man has been rescues in the Mournes after becoming seriously ill.
A spokesperson from the voluntary Mourne Mountain Rescue Team (MMRT who were actually training in the mountains today (Sunday 7th August) said, “The MMRT was called to assist a gentleman who had suffered a suspected heart attack whilst walking on the Brandy Pad near the Hares Gap in the Mournes.
“The team made their way to the site and stabilised the casualty. They then waited on the Dublin Coastguard helicopter which had also been tasked to assist.
“On arrival a transfer was made to the helicopter and the gentleman was quickly airlifted to Daisy Hill Hospital Newry for treatment.”
