MEMBERS of Lecale Conservation, a local charity which aims to promote and protect the environment of the Lecale area, organised a beach clean recently at Minerstown beach.
60 members, friends and supporters all turned up ready for a Spring Clean of part of Co. Down’s beautiful coastline. Altogether 60 bags of rubbish were collected by the volunteers and some bulky items were also lifted off the beach and placed at the roadside for Down District Council to remove later. Tidy NI also supported the event and helped out with the clean up.
Lecale Conservation members were also on hand to talk about any nesting bird life along the coast and how to avoid disturbing susceptible nests which the public just may not notice.
