Islandderry Anglers Fish The Hugh Brunty Memorial Competition

Islandderry Trout Anglers held their annual Hugh Brunty Memorial Fly Fishing Competition in Aid of Macmillan Cancer Suport at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore on Saturday.

A great day was had with good numbers of trout caught along with a bit of banter and good food. The club would like to say a big thank you to all who supported the competition and to all who donated prizes and ballots. Thanks to all of the kind generosity, £600 was raised for the charity and everyone who took part went home with a prize.

Lurgan angler Bill Johnston took first place with a 3 fish bag weight of 11lbs 10oz, second was fellow Lurgan angler John Hamiliton with three fish for 10lbs 11oz and third was Belfast angler Paddy Brunty with 3 fish for 10lbs 1oz.

The next competition at Islandderry is round 2 of the winter league on Saturday 29 November and of course there is also the popular Boxing Day competition.
