PUMPKINS, pumpkins and more pumpkins!  Bring the family to the “Pumpkinfest” Craft Fair at Castle Ward, Downpatrick, Co Down on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October.

Jacquekline Baird, Property Services Manager at Castleward said, “This year for the first time ever we have an exciting Scarecrow Competition. Create you own fabulous, unusual and exciting scarecrow. Bring it along to be judged at Castle Ward’s Scarecrow Pageant. They can be big, small, elegant, themed or traditional all are welcome. Registration opens from 10am – 3pm and prizes will be awarded each day to under 12s and over 12s to adult.

“We have an amazing 3,000 pumpkins to choose from!  Scoop out the inside and draw your pumpkin design before taking your pumpkin to our expert carvers who will complete the finished look.  Then jump on board our tractor pulled people carrier to the farmyard where you will meet the legendary Castle Ward Pumpkin People.  This year they need your help to solve clues at their murder mystery dinner – adults may need to be accompanied by small children!

Come along and enjoy the Pumpkinfest at Castleward on Saturday and Sunday.

“Indulge in pumpkin soup and other tasty delights available from the Stableyard tea room and from a diverse range of speciality foods.  Live music from ‘Sounds of the Clutch‘ and the ‘Silver Fish Band‘ will complete the wonderful atmosphere. All this and an extensive display of local crafts and National Trust gift shop ranges will entice you to take home a souvenir from the day.

“Go back in time with a Horse and Carriage ride (weather permitting) to the house which will be open free to everyone on the day.  The second-hand book shop and gift shop will open from 11am so you can browse before the crowds arrive.”
