Downpatrick NPT takes up Street by Street Challenge

DOWNPATRICK Neighbourhood Policing Team held a very successful public meeting recently involving Down Rural Redevelopment Project, local residents, Councillors and youth and community workers.

Special guests were members of East Belfast Street by Street Community project.  They discussed the successes of the scheme which sees members walking around the streets of their community engaging with local people.  They liaise with local community policing and encourage young people to join youth groups in an effort to reduce Antisocial behaviour.

The aim was to inspire a similar project in Downpatrick and the presentation was extremely well received with local residents making arrangements to attend East Belfast to see the project working first hand as the next step forward.
