Downpatrick Junior Soccer Tournament To Kick Off

YOUTH teams from all over the Downpatrick area will come together for a 5-a-side soccer tournamnet which kicks off on Sunday 7th August at 2pm at the Model Farm Pitch and runs during through week from 6.30pm.

Ballyvange FC in Partnership with the East Down Rural Community Network and the Flying HOrse Ward Community Forum have organised this tournament which enables youth teams from accross Downpatrick to cpmpete in  afriendl;y and fun atmosphere.

At the launch of the Ballymote junior soccer tournament were, back row, Ann Grant, East Down RCN Neighbourhood Renewal Project Development Officer, Stephen Sloan, U-11 Ballymote FC Manager, Ciaran Fitzsimons, Ballymote FC Chairman, Jenny Laverty, Flying Horse Forum Community Health Worker, and Flo Quinn. The competition is open to Under 11’s, 12’s, 13’s, and 15’s.

The tournament final will be on Friday at 6.30pm followed by a presentation evening in Ballymote Sports Centre.

This will be a welcome event for the many young budding soccer stars across the area.

ESTATE CLEAN UP

The Ballyvange FC  in partnership with Tidy NI and the Flying Horse Community Forum are organising a clean up in the Flying Horse and Model farm Estates.

Flo Quinn presents the Paddy Dobbin Memorial Trophy to Sean Ferris with his brother Patrick. Included is Ballyvange FC Chairman Ciaran Fitzsimons.

It is between 3-5pm on Friday 5th August.

This will be an opportunity to collect all the loose rubbish lying around the estates and have a general tidy up. The Council will collect all the rubbish once it is collected.

People taking part should meet  at the Ballymote Car Park at 3pm. Everyone is welcome to join in.

Bring along a brush and shovel, or a litter pick if you have one. Bags will be supplied.
