Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) held its fifth Neighbourhood Watch Conference on Wednesday 22 October 2014 in the Downshire Civic Centre, Downpatrick. This successful event brought together the PCSP, PSNI and up to 30 Neighbourhood Watch Co-Ordinators (NHW).

As this was the last conference under the auspices of the existing Down District Council, the theme for the night was a Celebration of Down NHW and presentations were made by some of the Co-Ordinators on their experience of the Scheme.

Councillor William Dick, Chairman of PCSP, welcomed everyone to the Conference and said: “The good will and dedication of the Co-Ordinators makes the Down area a safer place to live, work and visit. Partnership work is essential for the success of this scheme and I would like to thank the Neighbourhood Policing Teams for all their support.”

PSNI Area Commander Gillian West reiterated Councillor Dick’s comments and added: “It is vital that this partnership exists. With the changes facing the PSNI it is important to have the Community’s support and this can be achieved through NHW. The PSNI always provided valuable information on Crime Prevention.”
