Don’t miss the Down Railway Exclusive Party this Friday

THIS Friday evening (7 September) is set to be a memorable occasion in Downpatrick.

It will be full steam ahead at the Downpatrick and County Down Railway which hosts an incredible and exclusive night of fun… THE party of the summer.

All aboard! Herbie Bodel, Platform Staff, and Downpatrick and County Down Railway Chairman Michael Collins, pictured with Anne Rowney and Marisa Murphy of Fashion Forum at Downpatrick Railway Station get set to roll out the exclusive party of fun and nostalgia.

Marissa Murphy of Fashion Forum has linked up with the the DCDR team to put together a fantastic evening of fun and nostalgia. You will literally be able to travel back in time and experience the passion and nostalgia of a train ride with a difference that makes the Orient Express fade into insignificance!

“Starting with a champagne reception at The Mill at Ballydugan, at 7pm prompt, the guests will be entertained and will travel to the Downpatrick railway station in a convoy of vintage cars. Before they  enjoy a train ride to Inch on a  lovingly restored vintage train carriage they will be greated with the sumptuous aromas of a roasting pig on a spit.  There will be a who-dun-it Murder Mystery that unfolds before your very eyes. An running with this will be lots of music and good food with a bar,” added Marissa. “Just prepare yourself to be spoiled.

“The recently opened Carriage Museum will host a very special event… the grand finale. You will be escorted to your seat and then the ‘10.3o’ arrives at the station. 23 models will alight onto the platform and there will be plenty of hidden surprises as talented young stars perform on the night.

“After this, there will be a swinging Sixties and Seventies party organised by Fashion Forum. There you can reminisce over the great tunes of the past.  The Downpatrick railway runs a number of great events through the year but this one is designed to reach out to everyone, especially those who enjoy a great time and have never even been to the railway centre before. It will be an experience not to be missed.

“If you are going to do it, do it in style!”
