Donard Fundraising Group Donate A Further £5000 To Marie Curie

The Donard Fundraising Group is delighted to make a £5,000 donation to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The groups chairman Paul Madden said: “It is a pleasure for our Group to be able to help and support Marie Curie as much as we can through our various fundraising events and activities. Some of us have very dear family and friends who have experienced the essential care the charity provides, as sadly there are very few families today who haven’t been affected by cancer.

“Our group are deeply humbled that we have now raised and donated £28,377 to Marie Curie Cancer care in just over 18 months, which has funded an additional 1,418 hours of vital palliative nursing care, for anyone in our communities, at a difficult time when they need it the most.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helps us help Marie Curie, and are indebted to our local public, businesses and clubs for their incredible generosity and kindness”.

Ciara Gallagher, Deputy Head of Marie Curie Regional Fundraising for Scotland and Northern Ireland said:  “On behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care, we offer our sincere thanks to the members of the local Donard Fundraising Group for their most recent donation of £5000 and their continued fundraising efforts that includes Marie Curie as one of their beneficiary charities. These funds will be used to provide nursing care to people with all terminal illnesses in their own homes and much needed emotional support to their loved ones.”

The Donard Fundraising Group’s secretary Alice Anderson added: “We would also like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to Top Gear’s Chief Test Driver/Stunt Co-ordinator for recently donating an Ipad, specifically for our group to use for its admin and social media purposes. And Suzanne Eastwood, proprietor of Go Nutts, Dundrod, for her fantastic help and support.”
