The long-established festival which runs from Monday 26 to Saturday 31 October boasts a programme of exciting events with both private and public organisations getting involved.

The spooktacular fireworks display has become one of the best in Northern Ireland and will be the pinnacle in the programme launching from the beach at 7.45pm on Saturday 31 October.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Naomi Bailie commented: “It is fantastic to see how the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce embraces Hallowtides every year and the fight for Best Shop window display gets more competitive with every passing Halloween.

“This year, for the first time, the best window display will be up for public vote on Down Festival’s Facebook page so no doubt the stakes will be frightfully high. The whole town really get into the eerie spirit and I would encourage visitors to come to town early in the week and participate in the many events on offer.

“Hallowtides not only provides entertainment for the whole community but also attracts significant numbers of visitors contributing to the regions’ wider tourism strategy.”
