The Cancer Fund for Children provides practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people aged 0 to 24 affected by cancer & their families and their new respite centre at Daisy Lodge in Newcastle is their caring flagship.

With offices in Downpatrick, Belfast and Newtownards, M.B. McGrady & Co Chartered Accountants will be hosting a number of fundraising activities in the months ahead… starting with a charity cinema screening in Downpatrick – in a bid to raise vital funds for the local charity.

As one of the largest and most-respected independent practices in Northern Ireland, the Partners at M.B. McGrady & Co. asked their team to nominate which charities they would like to support. The Cancer Fund for Children was the top choice, and funds raised by M.B. McGrady & Co. will go towards funding therapeutic short breaks to families at Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co. Down and self-catering breaks at Pine, Birch and Oak Cottages in Coleraine.

To launch the partnership, the company is calling upon ladies to join them for a ‘Ladies Night at the Movies’ where M.B. McGrady is hosting an exclusive screening of Dirty Dancing at Eclipse Cinema, Downpatrick on Wednesday 19th October, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Director of M.B. McGrady & Co Chartered Accountants, Conaill McGrady said: “We are delighted to be partnering with this leading local charity that does phenomenal work to support both children and their families affected by cancer.

“Unfortunately, there’s very few of us who don’t have links or know of someone who’s been affected by cancer. The Cancer Fund for Children really resonated with our team, as we’re aware of the tremendous difference that it makes to families from across Northern Ireland at its facility – Daisy Lodge – in Newcastle, Co. Down.

“The partners, our charity project team and all three offices are 100% behind this fundraising drive. We’re really looking forward to the first event and raising as much money as possible for the charity.”

Other fundraising events planned include a festive client event, participation in the charity’s Winter Woolly Walk, and a Slieve Donard climb.

Cancer Fund for Children’s Corporate Fundraiser, Sorcha Mac Laimhin, said: “We are delighted to have the support of M.B. McGrady & Co Chartered Accountants as its selected charity.

“As a local charity, we receive less than 0.5% of our income from the Government, and really rely on the support of local businesses and the community in order to provide our vital support services to children and young people living with cancer, and their families.

“We support around 300 families affected by cancer each year and this would not be possible without help from businesses like M.B. McGrady & Co. I really look forward to working with the team in the months ahead.”

Based in Downpatrick, Belfast and Newtownards, M.B McGrady & Co Chartered Accountants represents a diverse range of SME’s, family run businesses, agri- businesses and sole traders across the Province.
