Pearson Pulls Out Of Scarborough

Posted by Jim Masson On September - 15 - 2011

FORMER Scarborough Cock of the North Winner, Lisburn’s Michael Pearson, has been forced to sit out this weekend’s Steve Henshaw Gold Cup meeting at the North Yorkshire meeting, after an injury picked up in a minor spill at last months Ulster Grand Prix, has failed to heal sufficiently, to allow Pearson to make the annual Oliver’s Mount trip.

Willis Marshall

Willis Marshall has pulled out of the Scarborough races due to an injury not healing quickly enough.

Torn ligament and muscle damaged on his right elbow, has taken longer to heal than first thought, with the D&GW Racing rider insisting that he is just not in race trim to compete competitively this weekend.

Michael Pearson said, “The elbow is taking longer to heal than we first thought. In fact, the elbow is not really the problem, its just that I cannot grip very well with my right hand, obviously due to the muscle’s and ligaments healing, which would make braking a big issue for me if we went to Scarborough.

“The last thing I want is to cause an accident where I might hurt myself even more, or in a worse case scenario, hurt someone else. The decision not to go was an easy one to make really, although I am disappointed that I will not be there. I am unsure if I will get a chance to race anymore this year, although if we can, we my taking in the Superbike races at the Sunflower races in October.

(Michael would like to thank everyone who has sent him good wishes prior to his wedding at the end of September to Diane Lindsay.)
