Castlewellan GAC Notes For 29 April 2018

*Our ladies and men have had a tough start to the league campaigns with no returns after three league games. The lads finally got their first points on Friday night past with a seven point win over An Riocht and the brightest of evenings.

The talking point of that game was our umpire at the top goal attempting to field the ball Colm McAlarney style. The photos are too graphic to print. Suffice to say our Chairman did not need any hospital treatment. Our ladies haven’t any luck in the three league games so far.

Beaten by Bredagh and Downpatrick in their first two games they proved in their third game against Carryduff things are starting to come together and that’s a good sign. That good sign came to fruition last Sunday evening with a good win over Bryansford ladies by 3-16 to 0-07. Hopefully this will instill new found confidence in the girls.

Launching the Castlewellan GAC draw are Sean Warnock, Ronan King, Kevin Sweeney and Donal Ward.

The next fixture for the ladies is at home to Burren on Saturday night in St Malachys Park with a 7.30pm throw in. Next fixture for the lads is tonight against Clonduff in the park.

* Our annual club draw is back and once again the star prize this year is an incredible £5000, while other highlights include Caribbean and Mediterranean holidays, a fabulous home makeover, various home improvement appliances, 20 huge cash prizes, plus much much more.
