On Saturday night past we held our annual awards evening. This is the fiftieth year of successive award evenings and while much has changed in that half century there is still something special about evenings like these writes Brian Cunningham.

This year our special guest was Down and Savals Danny Hughes whose honesty and humour held the packed hall captivated. We celebrated the success of our senior ladies and handed out individual honours across all codes. With Castlewellan contributing so much to both Camogie and ladies football All-Ireland success there was special awards given to the girls involved.

The latest recipient of the Clubs Hall of Fame is Liam Sloan. Liam has been a wonderful servant to our club and was a most popular winner. The arrival on stage with the Johnny O’Neill trophy by his New York based daughter Aveen almost brought the house down. A fantastic video production compiled by Kevan Owens revisited the clubs history. Much thanks must go to the organising committee but in particular to Kevan Ciaran and Moira.

Due to the success of the winter coaching programme, another five week programme will commence on 25 February.

It’s that time of year again where we ask all our playing and social members to register. Over the past few months the committee have been working to put in place a new system where all registration can be completed on-line from our club web site. This has been created to make it so much easier to register as a club member. All different categories of membership are catered for including various payment options. Parents can register their children on-line also. Please avail off this new system when it goes live in the next week or so….

Our club lotto is over £8K. The easiest way to play is on-line, from your living room, from work or where ever. Encourage others to play our lotto and by doing so your are supporting our developments…

Are you interested in Irish Culture and Language?? Are you interested in representing our club in Scor??? If so can you please contact Paul Connolly with any ideas or suggestions you might have.

Our modified and redecorated hall is now complete with a fantastic sound system, access to kitchen facilities and more. It is ideal for family functions, parties or other. If you have any requests contact Ciaran Brannigan or Brian Dougherty.
