Last week was a boom week at the Downe Midwifery-Led Maternity Unit.

Midwives were working flat out as four babies made their appearance within a  48-hours period,  bringing the total for the week to six.

So far, 95 babies have been born at the unit since it opened 18 months ago. Midwives were delighted to be run off their feet as the unit is facing a major challenge with a 150% increase in its target births for Year 2.
