DOWN District Sinn Fein Councillor Stephen Burns has welcomed the decision of the Council’s Recreation and Community Services Committee to install a new playpark in in Castlewellan.
Councillor Burns said, “The play park will be situated on the Bunker’s Hill area of the town and will be used both by the local community and children from Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche.
“I welcomed the co-operation between Down District Council and the south Eastern Education and Library Board in securing the playground. During these times of economic austerity, it is very important that we look to inter-agency co-operation on local projects.
The playground will provide a much needed recreational facility for the towns children. In recent years the SDLP had pushed through the closure of another playground in the town, so it is good to see the new playground has been approved with all-party support,” he added.
