Boyle Welcomes Flooding Repair To Shore Road

Ards and North Down Councillor Joe Boyle has praised the quick response from Transport NI for their immediate action taken to elevate a flooding concern on the newly resurfaced Shore Road in Portaferry.

Councillor Boyle said: “There was a small area on this road that after the resurfacing was completed appeared to flood practically after every ra”infall in an area where there never had there been an issue of flooding at this location before.

Residents subsequently brought this concern to me and I am delighted, once again, at the response from Transport NI and the actions of the contractor that the problem was solved as a matter of urgency. There was a minor adjustment required involving the drainage only as the newly laid road surface was not altered whilst addressing the concern.”

Councillor Boyle added: “On behalf of the residents of Shore Road Portsferry, I would place on record our appreciation to Ards Section Engineer Stanley Lamb along with his officials and staff within Transport NI as well as to the contractors for their work resulting in a £250k investment scheme incorporating a newly resurfaced Shore Road, adjoining footpaths and the installation of new street lighting.

“The scheme has been appreciated by everyone living in and visiting Portaferry and enhances the location in line with additional recent significant investment to the location.”
