“I am currently embarking upon maintenance programmes throughout the Ards Borough by arranging meetings with the stake holders, outside bodies along with residents and residents groups to agree as to how we can all improve upon the increasingly noticeable issue of overgrowth.
“One particular area of concern is an open space location, formerly under the ownership of the Housing Executive, now sold for development, which has during this period become similar to an overgrown field.
“This has caused considerable concern for the residents of this area as it had been once a well maintained open space green area that is now in need of an immediate maintenance programme of works. It has already received an inspection from Environmental Health Officers to allay any concerns of those living nearby.”
Councillor Boyle added,” A number of sites have already been inspected and are now thankfully earmarked for a programme of works that will improve all currently visited upon areas. This will greatly enhance these locations and whilst I look forward to this taking place I would also place on record my appreciation to the Housing Executive officials for their continued co-operation whenever I present these concerns on behalf of residents, interested parties and groupings.”
