Beach Clean Up For 12th October In Ardglass

Judith Caldwell of the Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership has announced that the SLLP is organising a beach clean in Ardglass on Thursday morning, October 12th.

Beach litter is a threat to a healthy environment. Join the Ardglass beach clean.

She said: “We are planning to meet in Ardglass at 10am. This beach clean is part of “Love your Landscape Day”,  an initiative being coordinated by Business in the Community.

“We are hopeful that we will also have some volunteers from local businesses helping on the day. If you can think of any local Ardglass businesses that might be interested please ask them to get in touch with me.

“The stretch of coastline that we are planning to clean is the section of the Lecale Way, just heading out of Ardglass on the Strangford Road. This is a Marine Litter Survey site, which is one of 8eight sites monitored by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful to assess the level of marine litter on our coast.

“The SLLP have undertaken to clean this site four times a year, with this being our first clean-up! All necessary equipment will be provided but sturdy footwear and weather appropriate clothing are a must.

“I have invited the Lecale Ramblers and the Down Danderers, but anyone else that might be interested in coming along for a couple of hours to help us with a beach clean will be very welcome.
