Club Notes

Limerick is the venue on Saturday as the 1st Xv aim to put their promotion hopes back on track on the ULBohemians speedy 4G pitch. Ulster’s continuing injury woes are making player releases unpredictable and Brian McLaughlin will be hoping for some good news on the injury front for Hinch as well this week.

The seconds kept the pressure on at the top of the Conference League with a 50 points to 5 win over Enniskillen in a rearranged fixture. They have one game to play against Portadown in defence of their title and will be hoping Ballyclare can do them a favour by beating leaders Armagh in their final fixture to set up a crack at the title.

The 4s continued their stunning form with a 43-5 thumping of Ballyclare 2s, with Gareth Gill and Chris Orr among the scorers. Ironically this result may have handed the League title to the 3rds as Ballyclare were the only team capable of reeling them in. The 3rds still have two tough fixtures at Carrick and Ballyclare to negotiate as they seek to defend their title. The 4s will go into next week’s big Crawford Cup semi-final derby against the 5ths as hot favourites but Andrew Wilson and his men will be well prepared and a big day is expected at the club.

Hinch Ladies suffered for their recent inactivity and went down by 30 points to 7 in the All-Ireland Cup. They have played just one fixture since the New Year and cannot be expected to progress without regular rugby. They fought bravely but were well beaten in the end.

To book your slot at one of the final two pre-match lunches please contact James Shaw on 07740 308051. The dates are March 24th vs Dolphin and April 14th vs Old Belvedere.

Mini rugby continues on Saturday mornings from 9.30-11am. Boys and girls from P1 – Yr8 are all welcome, with training run for each age group in their school year. Mini rugby news is posted weekly on the club Facebook page:
